Gippsland Discussion Group with John McCabe

Join us next Friday 5 July for an exclusive discussion group session with Irelands John McCabe at Ellinbank SmartFarm.

John is currently the coordinator of a farm profitability programme being run in conjunction with Aurivo Cooperative, a major milk processor in the north-west of Ireland. He has extensive experience in supplier data analysis and supporting dairy farmers in the technical aspects of running a profitable and labour efficient dairy farm. After completing his studies at University College Dublin, he spent two years working on and managing dairy farms in the UK and Ireland and has first-hand experience in driving the uptake of research on dairy farms.

John is visiting Australia as a keynote speaker at the SA Dairy Innovation Day and is extending his trip to share his knowledge with Gippsland farmers and industry professionals.

This discussion group will explore the Irish context on pasture utilisation (including on marginal land types) and nitrogen use efficiency and provide advice to both farmers and researchers on driving the uptake of research on dairy farms.

The day will conclude with a tour of Ellinbank SmartFarm to provide an overview of the farm, and discuss optimising nutrient intake from pasture, and multispecies swards.
